The Kurds Are Rising

The Kurds Are Rising – By Daymond Duck –

The great seminary professor and Bible prophecy scholar Dr. Charles H. Dyer said, “Most events prophesied in the book of Isaiah came true during the prophet’s lifetime… But the events concerning Babylon described in the thirteenth and fourteenth chapters of Isaiah were not fulfilled in Isaiah’s lifetime. They have never been fulfilled (The Rise of Babylon, p.162).

In chapter 13, Isaiah was prophesying about Babylon (Isa. 13:1) when he said, “the day of the Lord is near” (Isa.13:6), “the day of the Lord cometh,” (Isa. 13:9) and he talked about “the day of his fierce anger” (Isa.13:13). The prophecies in this chapter begin when the Tribulation period is near and they continue on into the seven-year time of trouble.

When these prophecies are fulfilled God said, “I will punish the world for its evil” (Isa. 13:11). He will do that during the Tribulation period (Zeph. 1:14-16; 2:8; Dan. 12:1; Rev.6-19).

Notice that God said He “will stir up the Medes (not the Medes and Persians) against them” (Isa. 13:17). Babylon “will be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah” (Isa. 13:19). Babylon will “never be inhabited” from generation to generation (Isa. 13:20). And satyrs (demons) shall dance there (Isa. 13:21-22).

The Medes and Persians didn’t destroy Babylon by fire and a few people live there today so every jot and tittle of this prophecy hasn’t been fulfilled.

But Babylon will be destroyed by fire, it will become desolate and it will become the home of demons during the Tribulation period. All of that is prophesied in the book of Revelation (Rev.18:2, 8, 10, 19). They are events that will take place just before the Second Coming of Jesus.

There is more evidence of a future fulfillment. Gentiles will help the Jews return to the Promised Land. Gentiles will serve the Jews. Gentiles will be ruled by the Jews. Israel will have peace (Isa.14:1-3).

The world hates Israel today and Israel doesn’t have peace. But Israel will have peace after the Jews accept Jesus.

Isaiah reveals more coming events, but it is important to note that this future destruction of Babylon will be brought about by the Medes (not the Medes and Persians). Who are the Medes? Dr. Dyer said, “They have been fighting the countries of Turkey, Iran and Iraq in an attempt to establish their own independent country of Kurdistan” (p.173). The Medes are the Kurds.

About one hundred years later, Jeremiah prophesied against Babylon (Jer. 50-51). Many commentators apply his message to the Old Testament attack on Babylon by the Medes and Persians. There are similarities, but there are also differences. There is even reason to believe that Isaiah 13-14, Jeremiah chapters 50-51 and Revelation chapters 17-18 are all about the same thing. And few people doubt that Revelation chapters 17-18 are about the future.

Here is a partial list of similarities:

1) Isaiah chapters 13-14 will be fulfilled close to and during the Tribulation period and Jeremiah chapters 50-51 will be fulfilled about the time that Israel gets saved (Isa. 6:6, 9, 11, 13; Jer. 50:4, 20).

2) A multi-nation attack on Babylon is mentioned in Isaiah chapter 13 and also in Jeremiah chapter 50 (Isa. 13:1-6; Jer. 50:9, 41-42).

3) A later attack by the Medes (Kurds) in mentioned in Isaiah chapter 13 and also in Jeremiah chapter 51 (Isa. 13:17; Jer. 51:11-12, 28).

4) People are told to flee out of Babylon in Jeremiah chapter 51 and in Revelation chapter 18 (Jer. 51:6; Rev. 18:4).

5) Messengers announce the fall of Babylon in Jeremiah chapter 51 and also in Revelation chapter 18 (Jer. 51:31; Rev. 18:2).

6) Jeremiah chapter 51 says Babylon dwells upon many waters and is abundant in treasures and Revelation chapter 17 says the Harlot sits upon many waters and is very rich (Jer. 51:13; Rev. 17:1-4).

7) Jeremiah chapter 51 and Revelation chapter 18 both say Babylon has made the nations drunk on wine (Jer. 51:7; Rev. 18:3).

There is more, but here is a big difference: When Babylon is finally destroyed the walls will be torn down (Jer. 50:15; 51:58). The Medes and Persians diverted the Euphrates River and went under the walls. They didn’t tear them down.

This is the point: The fall of Babylon to the Medes and Persians may have fulfilled part of Isaiah 13-14 and Jeremiah 50-51, but it didn’t fulfill all of it. There is more to come and the Kurds (Medes) will play a major role.

In fact, it has already started. The failure of Iraq and Syria has increased the hopes of the Kurds for their own nation. They are the only group that has fought the Islamic State to a standstill. The U.S. has not given them the weapons they want, but they will get more weapons and the U.S. is giving them air cover.

In Jan. 2015, the Kurds defeated the Islamic State forces in a four-month battle for Kobani. In May 2015, the Kurds captured about 220 towns and villages that the Islamic State had taken in Syria. In early June 2015, a Kurdish supported party won several seats in the elections in Turkey. In mid-June 2015, the Kurds seized an extremely important Islamic State border crossing and supply route from Turkey.

In late June 2015, the Kurds captured an important military base that the Islamic State has held since 2014 and they were only about 35 miles from the Islamic State’s headquarters in Syria. In early July, they took more than 10 more villages from the Islamic State in Syria.

Some say there is not enough time for Babylon to be rebuilt, but the God who spoke the world into existence in six days doesn’t need decades to rebuild Babylon. When He says something will happen it will happen.

It looks like the Rapture can happen any day, but we don’t know when. There appears to be a gap between the Rapture and the Tribulation period, but we don’t know how long that gap is. Much work can be done in a short period of time.

Rebuilt Babylon doesn’t have to be a big city like New York (and the Bible calls it a city not a nation). Ancient Babylon was just 14 miles on each side and much of that was farm land. Some think global trade can be controlled from just a few buildings with super-computers. Also, the False Prophet won’t need a lot of buildings. Whatever is there will burn in one hour.

Just know that the Kurds (Medes) will destroy the city of Babylon at the end of the Tribulation period and they are rising now. Pres. Obama says it will take ten years to defeat the Islamic State, but God can bring them down in one night (especially if they don’t leave Israel alone). Their defeat and the rise of Babylon could be sooner than many think.

America in Bible Prophecy

America in Bible Prophecy

by Britt Gillette

Is America in bible prophecy?

This is one of the most common questions from contemporary students of bible prophecy, particularly those who live in the United States.

Bible prophecy reveals much about the end times, yet the United States seems conspicuously absent from the geopolitical picture foretold by the prophets.

Given the seeming nearness of Christ’s return, this is difficult for most people to understand.

After all, the United States is currently the most powerful and influential nation on earth. How then can it play no role in end time events?

Where Is America In Bible Prophecy?

The fact is neither America nor the United States are mentioned by name in bible prophecy.

When searching for America in bible prophecy, it’s important to understand that the Bible is a Middle Eastern book with an Israel-centric geographical perspective. Directions, for instance, are often given in relation to Jerusalem.

Furthermore, the fact that America as a nation was unknown to the prophets has no bearing on its absence in bible prophecy.

After all, the nation of Russia was also unknown to the prophets, yet Ezekiel 38-39 clearly identifies Russia (Gog) as a major end time player:

“Son of man, prophesy against Gog. Give him this message from the Sovereign Lord: I am your enemy, O Gog, ruler of the nations of Meshech and Tubal. I will turn you around and drive you toward the mountains of Israel, bringing you from the distant north.” Ezekiel 39:1-2 (NLT)

In addition, the Asian nations (also relatively unknown in John’s day) are clearly identified as major end time players in Revelation 16:

“Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great Euphrates River, and it dried up so that the kings from the east could march their armies toward the west without hindrance.” Revelation 16:12 (NLT)

Given the mention of most every other major nation in the contemporary world, why does the Bible remain silent regarding the United States?

According to some, the Bible may have something to say about America’s role in bible prophecy after all. So let’s look at what they have to say…

Is This America?

When searching for America in bible prophecy, several biblical passages are held up more often than others by proponents who see the United States in the Bible.

Below are some of the more regularly mentioned:

1) The Merchants of Tarshish and All Her Villages
One of the most commonly cited verses regarding America in bible prophecy can be found in the Book Ezekiel:

“Sheba and Dedan and the merchants of Tarshish and all her villages will say to you, ‘Have you come to plunder? Have you gathered your hordes to loot, to carry off silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods and to seize much plunder?'” Ezekiel 38:13 (KJV)

The verse references the Gog / Magog war against Israel, which is questioned beforehand by diplomats from many lands, including “the merchants of Tarshish and all her villages.”

According to proponents of this view, Tarshish is a reference to Great Britain and “all her villages” is a reference to the former British colonies of Canada, Australia, and the United States (among others).

This is certainly a creative interpretation of scripture and quite a stretch, especially in light of the fact that no consensus exists in regard to the identity of Tarshish.

Some biblical scholars claims that Tarshish is really a reference to Spain, while others say its India, Asia Minor, or coastal areas in the Mediterranean Sea.

Either way, no one can objectively point to this verse as the “smoking gun” which proves America is in bible prophecy.

2) Babylon
Another commonly cited reference regarding America in bible prophecy is Babylon. Here’s one passage often cited:

“One of the seven angels who had poured out the seven bowls came over and spoke to me. ‘Come with me,’ he said, ‘and I will show you the judgment that is going to come on the great prostitute, who rules over many waters. The kings of the world have committed adultery with her, and the people who belong to this world have been made drunk by the wine of her immorality.'” Revelation 17:1-2 (NLT)

The United States certainly rules over many waters, and our export of morally degenerate aspects of our media and culture have certainly not served the world well.

Nevertheless, taken in its proper context, Revelation 17 describes Mystery Babylon which is a biblical symbol for false religion, not the United States.

Babylon was the birthplace of false religion, and “the people who belong to this world have been made drunk by the wine of her immorality” by embracing false religion.

In Revelation 18, we encounter additional parallels:

“After all this I saw another angel come down from heaven with great authority, and the earth grew bright with his splendor. He gave a mighty shout: ‘Babylon is fallen – that great city is fallen! She has become a home for demons. She is a hideout for every foul spirit, a hideout for every foul vulture and every foul and dreadful animal. For all the nations have fallen because of the wine of her passionate immorality. The kings of the world have committed adultery with her. Because of her desires for extravagant luxury, the merchants of the world have grown rich.'” Revelation 18:1-3 (NLT)

Proponents of the Babylon is the United States theory point to the numerous parallels between the City described above and the United States of America.

But again, bible prophecy needs to be understood in its context, and not interpreted so as to agree with a predetermined viewpoint.

Revelation Chapter 18 does not describe the United States of America, but rather the Empire of the Antichrist and the actual realworld City of Babylon.

This is confirmed in the Book of Zechariah, when it’s revealed exactly where the epicenter of the end times false religion will geographically be located:

“Then the heavy lead cover was lifted off the basket, and there was a woman sitting inside it. The angel said, ‘The woman’s name is Wickedness,’ and he pushed her back into the basket and closed the heavy lid again. Then I looked up and saw two women flying toward us, gliding on the wind. They had wings like a stork, and they picked up the basket and flew into the sky. ‘Where are they taking the basket?’ I asked the angel. He replied, ‘To the land of Babylonia, where they will build a temple for the basket. And when the temple is ready, they will set the basket there on its pedestal.'” Zechariah 5:7-11 (NLT)

Some interpretations say “the plains of Shinar” or “the land of Shinar” instead of Babylonia. Nevertheless, Babylon is located on the plains of Shinar in modern day Iraq.

A close examination of the Babylon in Revelation confirms that Babylon is not a reference to America in bible prophecy.

3) A Great Eagle
Another commonly cited America in bible prophecy passage is also from the Book of Revelation:

“When the dragon realized that he had been thrown down to the earth, he pursued the woman who had given birth to the male child. But she was given two wings like those of a great eagle so she could fly to the place prepared for her in the wilderness. There she would be cared for and protected from the dragon for a time, times, and half a time.” Revelation 12:13-14 (NLT)

Proponents who see the United States as the great eagle in Revelation 12 point to America’s prominent national symbol as evidence of its identity as the eagle.

But yet again, this passage needs to be interpreted in a biblical context.

The eagle is a clear reference to God, not the United States, as evidenced by the following verses:

“You have seen what I did to the Egyptians. You know how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.” Exodus 19:4 (NLT)

and

“Like an eagle that rouses her chicks and hovers over her young, so he spread his wings to take them up and carried them safely on his pinions. The Lord alone guided them; they followed no foreign gods.” Deuteronomy 32:11-12 (NLT)

Yet again, in order to see America in bible prophecy, you’re required to engage in some creative and imaginative interpretations.

4) A Tall and Smooth People
The final America in bible prophecy verses we’ll look at are from Isaiah:

“Go, swift messengers! Take a message to a tall, smooth-skinned people, who are feared far and wide for their conquests and destruction, and whose land is divided by rivers.” Isaiah 18:2 (NLT)

and

“At that time the Lord of Heaven’s Armies will receive gifts from this land divided by rivers, from this tall, smooth-skinned people, who are feared far and wide for their conquests and destruction.” Isaiah 18:7 (NLT)

Some people claim these verses are a reference to the United States because America is “feared far and wide” and it’s divided by rivers (or even two oceans).

Yet, by simply reading verses one and two from Isaiah 18, we find that the nation referenced is not the United States:

“Listen, Ethiopia – land of fluttering sails that lies at the headwaters of the Nile, that sends ambassadors in swift boats down the river.” Isaiah 18:1-2 (NLT)

Cush, or Ethiopia, is the land of “tall, smooth-skinned people” referenced in Isaiah 18.

In short, the Bible makes no direct reference to the United States or America when it comes to the end times.

America’s Prophetic Role

In spite of the Bible’s silence in regard to the United States, America does have a profound role of prophetic significance in world affairs. While it may not be mentioned directly in end times bible prophecy, the United States has played a pivotal role in setting the stage for God’s worldwide end time drama.

Below is a list of three significant American contributions in setting the stage for the near-term fulfillment of end times bible prophecy:

1) American Support of Israel

The unrivaled prosperity and success of the United States is no coincidence.

Long ago, God made a promise to Abraham and his descendants:

“I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt.” Genesis 12:3 (NLT)

God promised to bless those who bless the Jews and curse those who curse them.

Since its Revolutionary foundation, the United States has been a safe haven for Jews relative to the other nations of the world. There are always exceptions, but for the most part, the United States has treated the Jewish people with kindness and acceptance, granting them full rights of citizenship.

In 1948, the United States fully supported the newly established nation of Israel, becoming its staunchest ally in the decades that followed.

American support during the Cold War as well as American military aid and assistance helped Israel thwart the existential threats posed by the Soviet Union and Israel’s hostile Arab neighbors.

In short, God used the United States as a mid-wife in the rebirth of Israel.

2) America and Global Evangelism

Since its inception, America has been a global leader in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The earliest settlers brought the Good News to the natives of North America, and in the centuries since, America has led the world in the international export of Christian evangelism.

The fruits of this global evangelism include countless missions, untold church plantings, the distribution of millions of bibles in hundreds of languages, and radio, satellite, and Internet ministries reaching all over the earth.

America’s role in preaching the gospel throughout the world can NOT be overstated, and according to Jesus Himself, the Good News must reach a global audience before He returns:

“And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:14 (NLT)

3) America’s Role in Increasing Travel and Knowledge

According to the Book of Daniel, the end times will witness a marked increase in travel and knowledge:

“But you, Daniel, keep this prophecy a secret; seal up the book until the time of the end. Many will rush here and there, and knowledge will increase.” Daniel 12:4 (NLT)

The fact that the world has already witnessed this dramatic increase in travel and knowledge is apparent even to the most casual observer.

For thousands of years, the horse remained the fastest mode of human transportation while the world’s most celebrated libraries contained at best thousands of scrolls.

Today, jets can travel faster than the speed of sound and handheld devices can store hundreds of times as much information as the Library at Alexandria, which is widely considered the greatest depository of knowledge in the ancient world.

America’s role in bringing about this explosion in travel and knowledge is unrivaled and indisputable.

The United States was the first nation to fully unleash the power of the free market, resulting in a burst of entrepreneurial creativity and innovation which enabled an exponential increase in technological development which spread throughout the world.

As a result, it’s hard to deny America’s signficance in setting the stage for Christ’s return.

America in the End Times

But America’s prophetically significant role in leading up to the end times doesn’t necessarily translate into a significant or even notable role during the seven year Tribulation.

In fact, the Bible doesn’t even mention the United States or America.

Why?

The Bible’s silence in regard to America seems to necessitate a notable decrease in its power and influence.

And given the lateness of the hour, it’s likely that America’s fall from power will be sudden and dramatic.

What could cause such a powerful and influential nation to suddenly fall from its perch?

Here are a few possible reasons for America’s absence in end times bible prophecy (Note that these are merely speculations and not predictions):

1) The Rapture
While only God can know a person’s heart, there’s a good probability that the United States will lose more citizens as a result of the rapture than any other nation in the world.

With more self-proclaimed born again Christians than everywhere else on earth, the rapture has the potential to destroy the United States in a moment’s notice.

Imagine millions of hard working Americans – homeowners, tax payers, leaders – simply disappearing.

Aside from the Hollywood images of crashing planes and cars, think of the implications. Businesses crushed as owners and employees disappear… Millions of consumers gone overnight… Millions of additional vacant homes added to an already bloated housing inventory…

From an economic standpoint, the rapture threatens to destroy the American economy, and America’s military might is built on the back of unprecedented military spending enabled by a robust economy.

2) Financial Collapse
Take an honest look under the hood of America’s debt-based economy, and you’ll realize it doesn’t necessarily take a major event like the rapture to spark a financial collapse.

By ignoring the biblical principles of financial stewardship, many Americans have set themselves and their nation on course toward bankruptcy.

Unless something dramatically changes, America’s national debt will exceed its total annual output within the next few years.

Meanwhile, several states are on the brink of bankruptcy, with most every other state and local government soon to follow.

But it’s not just America’s government which lives beyond its means. Our government is merely an extension of the behavior exhibited by its individual citizens.

Today’s average American today is burdened by a debt to disposable income ratio of 133%. That means the average American has already spent every dime of his or her disposable income, plus an additional 33%!

Is it really difficult to envision this debt-saddled house of cards suddenly collapsing?

If and when it does, America’s global power and influence will quickly disappear as well.

3) Defeat at the Hands of the Antichrist
The Book of Revelation reveals that the Antichrist and his kingdom will become so powerful that no one will be able to resist militarily:

“They worshiped the dragon for giving the beast such power, and they worshiped the beast. ‘Is there anyone as great as the beast?’ they exclaimed. ‘Who is able to fight against him?'” Revelation 13:4 (NLT)

Perhaps the absence of America in bible prophecy is due to the Antichrist conquering or annexing the United States into his revived Roman Empire.

4) Fading into Obscurity
Of course, it doesn’t necessarily require a major event such as the rapture, a financial meltdown, or loss of sovereignty for the United States to fall from its position as the world’s most powerful nation.

In addition to our massive debt, America is in a state of prolonged moral decay. We’ve pushed God out of our schools, public buildings, and public discourse… Broken families are now the norm… Our entertainment grows more and more degenerate with each passing year… And a record number of citizens are dependent on government, not a result of disability, but as a result of sloth and laziness.

We can’t rule out the possibility that the United States will simply fade into obscurity, surpassed by its rivals due to a combination of financial turmoil, moral decay, and societal breakdown.

The rapture would simply serve as the final nail in the coffin of America’s international dominance.

5) A Host of Other Reasons
The above scenarios offer just a few speculations regarding America’s absence in bible prophecy.

But in all likelihood, there’s a host of other reasons for the Bible’s silence that we have yet to understand or imagine.

Nevertheless, the sudden loss of America’s current role as the world’s lone superpower is not difficult to fathom, and it likely explains the Bible’s strange silence in regard to the world’s most powerful nation when it comes to end time matters.

Conclusion

As students of bible prophecy diligently search the scriptures, the question continually pops up…

Why isn’t America in bible prophecy?

In all likelihood, some of us will not know the answer in this life, but in hindsight, it will most likely be plain and obvious to the people of the Tribulation.

The need to see America in bible prophecy stems from a common mistake in the study of bible prophecy – trying to fit bible prophecy into the current headlines, rather than reading current headlines in the context of bible prophecy.

We can see the many signs of the end times, knowing the hour is late and His coming is near.

And with America still holding a position of strength and power in the world, it’s difficult to reconcile our belief that the end is near with the Bible’s silence regarding America’s role.

Nevertheless, we can be confident that bible prophecy will come to pass with 100% accuracy, and the United States will not be a significant player in end time events.

Judging Planet Earth

Judging Planet Earth
A Feature Article by Jack Kelley

The combination of the Rapture and the Battle of Ezekiel 38 will fill the world with anguish and uncertainty as Daniel’s 70th Week begins. Where did all those people go? How did Israel so utterly destroy that massive invasion force all by itself? How did all these things happen so suddenly? Why didn’t somebody see this coming and do something to prevent it?

The Seal Judgments

In the midst of all the chaos and confusion one leader will stand out (Rev. 6:2). He’ll demonstrate an incredible ability to restore the world’s hope for the future, and promise to bring them peace. The frightened populace will easily be persuaded to follow his lead. He’ll agree to Israel’s demand for a Temple in which to resume their long abandoned worship of the One who had secured their victory. He’ll do this, not because He wants to help them honor God, but because he has plans of his own for the Temple (Daniel 9:27, 2 Thes. 2:4).

Using their own Scriptures (Ezekiel 48:1-10) he’ll show Israel why their new Temple shouldn’t be built where the old ones had stood. Instead it should be located a few miles north, in ancient Shiloh, where the Tabernacle had once stood. This will leave the Muslim facilities on the current Temple mount intact, at least for a time. After the disappearance of the Church, Islam will fast become the dominant religion of the world and their third holiest place is on that mount. With this bold stroke he’ll bring a semblance of peace to the region, demonstrating that Jew and Muslim can live in peace as neighbors in his brave new world (Dan 8:25). The people of Earth will breathe a collective sigh of relief.

But all too soon wars will start to break out in various places (Rev. 6:3) because this leader’s ultimate goal is world domination and some nations will resist. He’ll convince people that war is a temporary but necessary inconvenience and assure them that everything will soon be all right again. But the combination of wars, food shortages, and runaway inflation will begin taking their toll (Rev. 6:6). The deadly effects of this combination will be felt across one fourth of the Earth (Rev. 6:8).

Though it’s often called a religion of peace, Islam offers the world only two options, submission or death, as the martyrs among believers of other faiths will soon learn. For the multitude of new Christians who witnessed the disappearance of friends and family in the rapture and know from first hand experience the truth of the gospel, conversion to Islam will be impossible and the number of those who will die for their faith will mount rapidly and steadily. (Rev. 6:9) They’ll cry out to the Lord for vengeance but He’ll caution them to be patient for a little while longer because many more will die just as they have (Rev. 6:10-11).

Without warning, a great earthquake that will be felt world wide will trigger volcanic action spewing millions of tons of ash into the air, blotting out the Sun and making the Moon turn blood red (Rev. 6:12-14). The world’s leaders will run for cover, some intuitively knowing that the Wrath of God they were warned about by the Christians who’ve all disappeared has already begun and they’ll be shown no quarter. (Rev. 6:16-17)

The Trumpet Judgments

As if to confirm the worst fears of these leaders, a storm of hail, fire, and blood will rain down upon the Earth burning up a third of it. A third of the trees and all the green grass will go up in smoke. (Rev. 8:7) A meteor-like object the size of a huge mountain will crash into the sea. The resulting contamination will turn a third of the world’s oceans to blood killing all the marine life in the affected areas. The tsunami this meteor causes will capsize and destroy a third of the ships in the world. Over 50,000 commercial ships will disappear in a single day. (Rev. 8:8-9)

Then another star will fall to Earth and when it does a third of the fresh water will be contaminated. It will be toxic and foul tasting and many people will die from drinking it. (Rev. 8:10-11)

Both the day and the night will lose a third of their light due to the smoke and ash from the fires and volcanoes. Through the choking haze an angelic messenger will bring a warning from the Lord, “The worst is yet to come.” (Rev. 8:12-13)

A fallen angel will open the shaft of the Abyss and smoke will billow forth, further contaminating the already toxic air. Creatures resembling locusts will fly out from the smoke and for 5 months will inflict scorpion like stings on the people. These stings will be so painful people will wish they could die, but there will be no escape (Rev. 9:1-11). The only people on Earth who will be immune to their venom will be the 144,000 evangelists the Lord will have previously commissioned from among the tribes of Israel (Rev. 7:1-8).

Four angels who’ve been bound at the gateway to the East (the Euphrates River) will be released to kill one third of the Earth’s remaining population with plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur. (Rev. 9:13-19) The East is far different from the West and the animosity between Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and other religions the Far East is well established and deadly. Since 40% of the world’s population is crowded into the nations east of the Euphrates the number of casualties will be enormous as they fight each other for supremacy.

Between the Rapture, the martyrdom, the wars, and the judgments well over 2 billion people will no longer be found among the living on planet Earth as Daniel’s 70th Week approaches the mid point. And yet the Bible gives no indication that the unbelievers who remain will see the error of their ways and change their minds. This is the hardest core of the unsaved, the ones who refused to believe the truth of the Lord and accepted the lie of the anti-Christ instead (2 Thes. 2:10). In their deluded state they’ll think they’re on the side of light not darkness, and right not wrong. They’ll see God as the invading enemy and Satan as their leader, working to protect them. Spiritually, everything will be upside down.

But at the blowing of the 7th Trumpet in Heaven, the Lord’s reign will begin (Rev. 11:15). Having used every device at His command in an effort to persuade the people of Earth to change their minds and accept His offer of pardon, He will now take action to unseat the usurper from the throne that’s rightfully His and claim for Himself that which He’s purchased with His own blood, Planet Earth. Those who’ve sided with Satan will now face the worst time of judgment in the history of mankind. Were it not for a remnant of the Lord’s people among them, not a single soul would be left standing when this is over (Matt. 24:21-22).

The Bowl Judgments

The Bowl judgments make up the 3 1/2 year period of time we know as the Great Tribulation. The Seal and Trumpet cycles of judgments were partly for the purpose of demonstrating evidence of God’s existence to the undecided among the people of Earth. But that will have come to an end with the Bowl judgments. They’re strictly for the purpose of bringing judgment upon those who’ve rejected Him. In the process the Lord is going to completely destroy all the nations to which His people have been scattered (Jeremiah 30:11). Today there are nearly as many Jews in America as there are in Israel, and more than there are in any other nation, so you know that what’s left of this country after the rapture will not escape.

By now Satan will have been expelled from Heaven (Rev. 12:9) and and confined to Earth (Rev. 12:13). He will unleash his full fury upon God’s people. But those who heed His warning (Matt. 24:15-21) will be escorted to a place of refuge out of Satan’s reach (Rev. 12:13-16). Enraged, he will turn his fury against the Gentiles who’ve come to believe Jesus is their Savior since the rapture (Rev. 12:17).

He will take up residence in the body of the anti-Christ (Rev. 13:4) and with the help of a false prophet he will convince the unbelieving world to follow him and take a mark on their right hand or forehead to prove their loyalty to him (Rev. 13:16-17).

Three angels will deliver God’s final messages to mankind. The first one will offer one last chance to accept the Gospel, the second will announce the coming destruction of Babylon and all the city represents, and the third will warn mankind against taking the mark of the beast. (Rev. 14:6-11)

People who will have disregarded the warning against taking the mark will be treated to a dose of ugly and painful sores (Rev. 16:2). All the water on Earth will turn to blood, whether in the sea (Rev. 16:3) or in springs and rivers (Rev. 16:4). All sources of water will now be contaminated. The angel in charge of the waters reminds us that God is just in doing this because those He’s judging have shed the blood of God’s saints and prophets. Now He’s giving them blood to drink. (Rev. 16:5-7)

The Sun will go super nova at this point becoming so hot people will be scorched just by going outside. Again they will curse God but refuse to repent. (Rev. 16:8-9)

Then the Sun will go totally dark turning day into night, and still the people of Earth will curse God but refuse to repent (Rev. 16:10-11).

The anti-Christ will gather the armies of the world to Armageddon in a final effort to repel the Earth’s “invaders”. From Heaven a loud voice will shout, “It is done!” and the full fury of God’s wrath will be loosed on Earth. Lightning, thunder, and the worst earthquake man has ever experienced will be followed by a torrent of 100 pound hail stones. (Rev. 16:17-21) The punishment for blasphemy is stoning, and the blaspheming people of Earth will suffer the most extreme form of this punishment for their behavior.

Babylon The Great

Then God will turn to Babylon, headquarters of the forces who’ve defied Him since the time after the flood. There are three components to mankind’s world wide system and they will all be headquartered there. They are governmental, commercial, and religious, and among them they have enslaved the people of Earth for thousands of years.

First God will use the governmental component to destroy the religious one.

“The beast (anti-Christ) and the ten horns (ten kings who assist him) you saw will hate the prostitute (religious Babylon). They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire. For God has put it into their hearts to accomplish his purpose by agreeing to give the beast their power to rule, until God’s words are fulfilled.” (Rev. 17:16-17)

Then He’ll turn to the commercial component. It will be so totally destroyed that Earth’s leaders will stand aghast, scarcely believing what their own eyes are telling them.

They will weep and mourn and cry out, “Woe! Woe, O great city, dressed in fine linen, purple and scarlet, and glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls! In one hour such great wealth has been brought to ruin!” (Rev. 18:16-17)

Finally the governmental component.

The beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. With these signs he had deluded those who had received the mark of the beast and worshiped his image. The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur. The rest of them were killed with the sword that came out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh. (Rev. 19:20-21)

For six thousand years God has worked tirelessly to reconcile man to Himself, even giving His own life in exchange for ours. But His efforts have all ended in failure due to mankind’s unfaithfulness. Covenant after covenant was instituted and broken. The only one that has endured is the one the Father made with His Son to save us. But even then the majority of mankind, given the choice to participate as a beneficiary in this everlasting covenant, refused. Soon, His patience exhausted, God will remove the remnant that chose the pardon He offers, and judge the rest. Can you blame Him? You can almost hear the footsteps of the Messiah. 11-09-13

God’s Judgment On America

God’s Judgment On America

Jim Bramlett

Is the United States of America mentioned in biblical prophecy? If we are, indeed, in the “last days” before Christ’s return, as the overwhelming evidence indicates, is it possible that the greatest Gentile power in history would have been overlooked, or is irrelevant? Or, are references hidden, as are many other prophecies, to be “unsealed” to seekers in the last days according to Daniel 12:4?

I believe there are passages that do not name but do infer America. Interestingly, these passages are compatible with current geopolitical developments, and also visions and other supernatural revelations reported by several believers over the years. The message is of severe judgment, and is ominous.

Judgment Already Decreed

First, a few words about our beloved country. This is hard for me to say about America. When World War II started, I was age 11. My father fought with the infantry in Europe; my uncle with the Air Corps in North Africa. I went to a top military prep school. Later, at a large university, I practically majored in Air Force ROTC, becoming the highest ranking cadet officer and Corps Commander. I devoted my career to the nation’s military service, retiring early — before I was eligible for promotion to full colonel — only because of a higher priority, a call into full-time Christian service. I laid that promotion at the cross. But now, even retired, as a regular officer the government has a claim on me as long as I live. I love my country. The flag can still give me goose bumps. I have always been extremely patriotic. I have researched and lectured on America’s Christian heritage. I know how God’s hand has been on America, starting with Columbus. Yet to God the nations are but a grain of sand, and as a nation America has rebelled against God, insulted Him, and declared Him “not wanted.” Some believe America will get away with it because God “needs” America to fulfill the Great Commission. He doesn’t. We won’t.

Many are praying for revival in America according to the promises of 2 Chronicles 7:14. God will surely honor the prayers. There will be revival, and there will be a great harvest, the greatest the world has ever known. However, based on the parallel of Jeremiah’s warning to Israel and God’s answer to him, the part of 2 Chronicles 7:14 about “heal their land” — as relates to the secular culture — will not be answered until Messiah returns. As with Israel in Jeremiah’s day, I believe judgment on America has already been decreed. God’s moth-like judgment (Hosea 5:12) is in progress, eating at us slowly, but His lion-like judgment (Hosea 5:14) will soon pounce, devouring us suddenly and completely.

Applicability of 2 Chronicles 7:14? Even though 2 Chronicles was not written for probably over a hundred years later, Jeremiah may have tried to implement the principles of it. As a priest, he was surely aware of the promise to Solomon several hundred years earlier, either from the oral tradition or written records. But three different times (three for divine emphasis), God said to Jeremiah, “Do not pray for this people nor offer any plea or petition for them; do not plead with me, for I will not listen to you” (7:16, NIV). Also see 11:14 and 14:11. In the latter, God says, “Although they fast, I will not listen to their cry….I will not accept them. Instead I will destroy them with the sword, famine and plague.”

In another passage, God reiterates His willingness to show mercy and urges Israel to repent. “Look! I am preparing a disaster for you and devising a plan against you. So turn from your evil ways, each one of you, and reform your ways and your actions” (18:11). But in His omniscience and foreknowledge, God then says, “But they will reply, ‘It’s no use. We will continue with our own plans; each of us will follow the stubbornness of his evil heart'” (v. 12). God knew what their reaction would be; thus, judgment was decreed beforehand. (And even Solomon, after God’s clear promises and warnings in 2 Chronicles 7, fell into sin, soon died and the kingdom was split.)

Why This Probably Applies to America

1. The End of the Gentile Age. The evidence is overwhelming that the “times of the Gentiles” referred to by Jesus (Luke 21:24) — the same as the age of the “Gentiles” referred to by James (Acts 15:14-16), and Paul (Romans 11:25) — is in the final seconds. We are in the final countdown to what God revealed to Daniel as “the appointed time.” It is no accident that America, the largest and most powerful Gentile nation, has been in a precipitous cultural decline in the last half of this century (as Israel, the fig tree, has blossomed) as measured by numerous statistical indicators. And our global cultural influence is taking the world with us, as we daily export worldwide our anti-God and perverted national values.

God’s prophetic plan and timetable will not be stopped, and it takes precedence over everything. For example, Israel is still in rebellion, largely a godless nation. But God promised to regather them in the last days. He has, in spite of themselves, and with no effort on their part to comply with 2 Chronicles 7:14, but simply because of His plan. “It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am going to do these things, but for the sake of my holy name, which you have profaned among the nations where you have gone….Be ashamed and disgraced for your conduct” (Ezekiel 37:22, 32). Israel does not deserve mercy, and a further chastening lies ahead. Yet God will honor His covenant with their fathers, which Paul strongly reminds us so that we will not be “ignorant” or “conceited” as saved Gentiles, wild branches grafted into the natural olive tree (Romans 11:24-25).

2. The Pervasiveness of Evil. As before the Flood, and with Sodom and Gomorrah, and with the idolatrous occupants of the Promised Land before Joshua entered, evil is now so deeply pervasive and entrenched that it must be purged by judgment. Such seems to be a clear message of the prophets and the New Testament writers. The world is rushing madly toward the prophesied Tribulation, “such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be” (Matthew 24:21).

3. Veiled References to America. While America is not mentioned by name in prophecy, some Bible students believe there are indirect references. For example, some believe we are the last-days Babylon of Jeremiah 50 and 51 and elsewhere. The reason is that a number of the references seemingly do not apply to ancient Babylon, or even to a possibly restored Babylon in Iraq, and that America is now the world’s major military and financial power. For example, the “rich” Babylon Jeremiah describes lives “by many waters” (USA, not ancient Babylon; 51:13). “She made the whole earth drunk….they have now gone mad” (our drug/sex/rock culture via MTV and other media pervades the earth; 51:7). Our soldiers “have become like women” (homosexuals, women in combat; 51:30). She will be attacked by “arrows” (missiles; 50:9), from “the north” (direction of Russia; 50:3), with her judgment rising “as high as the clouds” (nuclear; 51:9). NASA’s space program is implied in 51:53 (KJV), with Babylon mounting “up to heaven.” Also, “They sinned against the LORD….the hope of their fathers” (USA, not ancient Babylon; 50:7). Economic Babylon of Revelation 18, the commercial capital of the world, may be New York (the Babylon of chapter 17 may be Rome because of the reference to the “seven hills” in v. 9). Chapter 18:4 mentions that in one day, and verse 10 says in one hour, she will be destroyed, with the world’s government and financial leaders weeping and mourning (18:9,15). A one-hour destruction of a great city is something possible only in the past 50 years, and probable only this decade with the proliferation of nuclear weapons, recently spreading on the black market from the former USSR to terrorist organizations, according to intelligence sources. Only God is holding back Islamic terrorists and other radicals from setting off a nuclear explosion in New York, Washington, D.C., Tel Aviv and elsewhere, until “the appointed time.”

In addition, a strong case can be made that America and the 1991 Gulf War are referred to in Daniel 8, with Iraq the ram, and America the goat which “came from the west, crossing the whole earth without touching the ground” (verse 5, NIV), seemingly our massive intercontinental air and sea lift. In verse 8, the goat is later “broken,” or destroyed. We know from verses 20-21 that Media, Persia and Greece were the first fulfillments, but from elsewhere, such as verse 17, we know that the vision, in a dual fulfillment, is for “the time of the end.” The above seems more plausible when the following is considered….

4. Soon Fulfillment of Ezekiel 38. Another possible reference to America, by conspicuous omission, is in Ezekiel 38 and what most scholars see as an invasion of Israel by Russia and a confederation of Muslim nations. The geopolitical preconditions for this are rapidly forming. There are reasons to believe this may occur in the very, very near future (perhaps at the beginning rather than the end of the Tribulation as some believe). For example, there has been a recent security agreement between Russia (Magog, 38:2) and the leading terrorist state, Iran (Persia, 38:5). Russia is supplying Iran with nuclear materials and, on the black market, with nuclear warheads. I have a reliable report of a recent briefing by NATO intelligence that a nuclear war in the Middle East is feared probable! America would surely be involved, perhaps as below:

If Israel is attacked according to Ezekiel 38, it is strange that there is no hint of help from its security partner, the powerful USA. Oddly, we do not seem to even be a factor. I believe it may be because, from a military standpoint, America has been neutralized and rendered powerless by a surprise nuclear attack by Russia (see below). This would surely give Russian military planners an assumed and enticing cakewalk to a Middle East takeover, ownership of the oil fields, new mineral resources and an expansion to the Persian Gulf, a stated goal of at least one Russian radical, Vladimir Zhirinovski, whose autobiography is prophetically titled The Last March South! While Zhirinovsky may never rise to power, this territorial ambition is undoubtedly shared by other radicals. Of course, we know from Ezekiel 39:1-6 that God Himself will defend Israel and destroy the invaders, to make His holy name known (v. 7). Again, the above still seems more plausible when the following is considered….
