The White House and its one trick race pony<\/strong><\/p>\n

The response of the occupant of the Oval Office to the Trayvon Martin–George Zimmerman verdict demonstrates a lack of virtuous leadership. He said, “We should ask ourselves if we’re doing all we can to stem the tide of gun violence that claims too many lives across this country on a daily basis. We should ask ourselves, as individuals and as a society, how we can prevent future tragedies like this.” He said that the death of Trayvon Martin was a tragedy. Indeed, a horrible tragedy. So are the violent deaths of all those in his adopted home city of Chicago. The Chicago violent crime rate is almost 50% higher than the national average–where gun laws are among the strictest in the nation.<\/p>\n

His answer is more gun control–to disarm the public from Constitutionally owned guns, abolishing self defense. That is his consistent advocacy. Yet there is a far deeper problem than guns. Gun deaths are the result of character issues. A gun does not have character or emotion or motive. A gun is a mere instrument of someone’s character. In this case, the occupant of the White House has none. He attends a Planned Parenthood meeting and pronounces “God’s” blessing over them, yet Planned Parenthood and its customers are responsible for the deaths of millions upon millions of Black babies. He wants to control guns, but does little to address the contributing cause of violent Black on Black crime. But if a non-Black is involved in a violent altercation with a Black, it is a national incident worthy of even more violence in the streets.<\/p>\n

We need leadership that promotes racial harmony rather than division and finger pointing. Yet it was this White House and this Department of Justice that used your tax money to promote demonstrations and rallies, even involving the radical Black Panther Party, supporting Zimmerman’s prosecution in a community relations effort called “peacemaker.” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton says his group obtained DOJ documents via the Freedom of Information Act that detail “extraordinary intervention by the Justice Department in the pressure campaign leading to the prosecution of George Zimmerman.” That’s how this president does all he can, as he says, to “prevent future tragedies like this.”<\/p>\n

The entire circumstance surrounding Martin’s death is a horrible tragedy. But it is not even a symptom of the horror that is experienced everyday in the streets of many American cities. Yet this White House wants to make it a battle cry to divide Americans and take away Constitutional rights. Every time there is an opportunity, the occupant in the White House saddles up his one-trick pony of gun control and racial division, rather than addressing the real issues.<\/p>\n

There needs to be national dialogue on how to develop character in Americans of all races and about what needs to be done to promote civil society in the 21st century. It won’t happen so long as leadership wants to say one thing and spend your tax dollars on the most devious opposite agenda. We as Americans need to start acting like Americans and calling this what it is without the sugar coating and politeness. As Ephesians 4:25 says, “Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbor: for we are members one of another.”<\/p>\n
