If those in the world mistake our support for Trump as that of excusing and overlooking his past, I believe it's their fault, not ours. In doing so, they demonstrate a total misunderstanding of grace and the Gospel. Those who are ready to turn to the Savior fully understand the Lord's mercy and love.

This is the account of Associated Press summing up the past few days of political demagoguery: "In the process, they have created a fraught political frame: "racists" vs. "socialists." Trump's aggressive condemnation of women of color in Congress has allowed House Democrats to mend, for now, their own political divisions as they put the president on record with a resolution condemning his words as racist. But by pushing the House majority into the arms of the squad of liberal freshman women, Trump also adds to his narrative that Democrats have a "socialist" agenda, a story line he started to bring into focus during his State of the Union address." Trouble is, this narrative is seeded in a tremendously flawed assumption.

First, on July 3, 2018, it was reported that an Iranian Brigadier General accused Israel and one other unidentified country of stealing Iran's clouds and snow. He believes the severe drought that has plagued Iran for several years is the result of Israel using a weapon to keep it from raining in Iran. This is my thinking: God promised to bless those that bless Israel and to curse those curse Israel.

Daily Jot: Of fools and foolishness

There is a lot written about fools in the Bible. Proverbs 13:20 says, "He that walks with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed." And Proverbs 1:22 asks, "How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? and the scoffers delight in their scoffing, and fools hate knowledge?" Proverbs 16:22 says, "Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that has it: but the instruction of fools is folly." Ecclesiastes 7:5 tells us, "It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools." The Bible is down on fools. With that as a backdrop, it is amazing how society tolerates foolishness brought on by fools. Of course, many of them are well educated, but that doesn't make them wise.

There is one thing that unifies establishment Democrats and Republicans. It's socialist globalism. Yes, no matter if they disagree on abortion, sanctity of marriage, or the religious freedom of God in the public square, establishment members of both parties are unified when it comes to a global economy, global trade, global migration, global climate control (or at least the wealth redistribution that it entails).
