GOG-MAGOG MOVES INTO SYRIA

by Pastor Mike Taylor

Ezekiel 38:1 :”And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,

Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him,

And say, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against thee, O Gog, the chief prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal:

And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:”

As we read this prophecy written by Ezekiel some 2600 years ago during the Babylonian captivity, I have often wondered how the events spoken of by the prophet would be manifested in the end of days before the return of Jesus Christ for His church.

Ezekiel tells of a future invasion of Israel by a vast coalition of nations that surround it.  it’s not hard to imagine that this invasion could be fulfilled in our lifetime, when we see events that are being fulfilled even as I write this..  Ezekiel 36-37 predicts a gathering of the Jews to the nation of Israel, which will be followed by this massive invasion.  For 19 centuries the Jewish people were scattered throughout the world, and until May 14, 1948 there was no nation of Israel to invade.  With the nation of Israel now a reality, the stage seems set for the war that will usher in the tribulation and the rise of the Antichrist; a war that will end with the destruction of Israel’s enemies by God Himself, and lead to the signing of a peace treaty with the Antichrist.

WHO ARE THE PEOPLE CALLED GOG-MAGOG?

Question arises, who is the prophesied enemy of Israel called Gog-Magog in our Bible, and where do they live today? Looking at the passage we just quoted, the Hebrew word ‘rosh’ in verse 3 is identified with Russia, ‘Tubal’ with Tiblisi or Tobolsk (Turkey) and ‘Meshech’ with Moscow, therefore Gog and Magog refers to Russia and it’s coalition of Islamic nations. This is one of the most commonly held views and is based on a different interpretation of the Hebrew word Rosh (used as a noun rather than adjective), similarities in the pronunciation of words, and the Greek translation of Rosh referring to a tribe of people found in what is now Russia. (Given Russia’s obvious involvement in giving arms and technology to Iran and Syria, I believe they will be the major player in the attack if not actively involved in it.) Mark Steyn makes an interesting analogy of who the people of this coalition will be composed of. We know by scripture that it will probably be Russia, but who makes up the people of Russia? Mark Steyn wrote:

“There are ten million people in Moscow. Do you know how many of them are Muslim? Two and a half million. Or about a quarter of the population. The ethnic Russians are older; the Muslims are younger. The ethnic Russians are already in net population decline; the Muslim population in the country has increased by 40% in the last 15 years. Seven out of ten Russian pregnancies (according to some surveys) are aborted; in some Muslim communities, the fertility rate is ten babies per woman. Russian men have record rates of heart disease, liver disease, drug addiction and Aids; Muslims are the only guys in the country who aren’t face down in the vodka. Faced with these trends, most experts extrapolate: thus, it’s generally accepted that by mid-century the Russian Federation will be majority Muslim. But you don’t really need to extrapolate when the future’s already checking in at reception. The Toronto Star (which is Canada’s biggest-selling newspaper and impeccably liberal) recently noted that by 2015 Muslims will make up a majority of Russia’s army. . . . What will happen in Russia? A remorseless evolution into a majority Muslim state? Bosnian-style civil war? The secession of a dozen or so of Russia’s 89 federal regions? A Muslim military coup? Or a panicky attempt to arrest decline by selling off your few remaining assets, including national resources to the Chinese and nukes to anyone who wants them? None of us knows, but we should know enough to know we don’t know. The Russia of 15 years ago is already ancient history. . . . By 2050, Russia will be the umpteenth Muslim nuclear power, but the first with a permanent seat on the UNSC. | Mark Steyn “The Bear Goes Walkabout,” marksteyn.com. 2/2/07

Imagine that. The great Muslim bear poised to the north of Israel. Assuming the accuracy of these facts, or even anything close, one can see another explanation for Russia’s participation in the Islamic invasion of Israel in the end times. Russia will lead this Islamic invading force, because Russia itself will be dominated by Muslims. This is something that no one could have envisioned even a decade or two ago. Yet, it appears to be happening right before our eyes.  No wonder why Russia is aligned with the likes of Iran, Syria, and other Islamic countries in the Middle East. Of course, it is about military might, but ethnic and religious links strengthen the idea of an Islamic invasion due to the hatred of the people against Israel. And Russia has always been Anti-Semitic in the past, and will be even more rabid in the future.

DON’T GET CONFUSED

Some people get confused when reading scripture and connect the Gog-Magog description noted in Revelation chapter 20 and erroneously connect Ezekiel 38 as being the same as the people mentioned in our last book of the Bible. But it’s not the same people in both passages. How do we know this? The war at the end of the tribulation, known as Armageddon, is a world war. Revelation tells us that this battle will involve all nations. The war described in Ezekiel includes specific nations that invade Israel. Also, Armageddon is at the climax of the tribulation, while the war described in Ezekiel comes well before then. So they are two different wars, but are both attempting to destroy Israel, before the Tribulation and at the end of the Millennium .

What is the purpose of God bringing this vast array of military might against the tiny nation of Israel before the Tribulation begins? Ezekiel gives us the answer after identifying the actors in this regional war.

Ezekiel 15 “And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army:

16 And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.”

God will reveal Himself to the nations round about Israel, that indeed, there is a God in Israel who saves His people. It will bring glory and honor to our God who steps back into the history of mankind and makes himself real in the eyes of the world, and especially Israel…Ezekiel continues:

18 “And it shall come to pass at the same time when Gog shall come against the land of Israel, saith the Lord God, that my fury shall come up in my face.

19 For in my jealousy and in the fire of my wrath have I spoken, Surely in that day there shall be a great shaking in the land of Israel;

20 So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all creeping things that creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall shake at my presence, and the mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.

21 And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord God: every man’s sword shall be against his brother.

22 And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.

23 Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the Lord.”

This will be a devastating war for the army who dares come against Israel and tries to take His land given to His chosen people. There will be no mistake who has defeated this overwhelming force, as God will strike the invading army with what can only be attributed to Divine intervention. Ezekiel chapter 39 continues the carnage that befalls this coalition of nations:

2 “And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:

And I will smite thy bow out of thy left hand, and will cause thine arrows to fall out of thy right hand.

Thou shalt fall upon the mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be devoured.”

God tells Ezekiel that He will utterly destroy this invading army and leave only 1/6 of these people left alive. He will destroy upwards of 85% of this army. If a million Islamic forces come against Israel from all sides, then God will destroy 850,000 of them, hypothetically in dealing with numbers to make this real to you. And from what I can determine, the plagues that befall this army will follow those who survive and return to their homelands, their native countries and the carnage continues. In what form? Maybe in disease, radiation poisoning, sickness and eventual death of those who survived the war brought to Israel?? It will be an awakening to not only the heathen of the nations, but to Israel herself, as she realizes that the God of her Fathers is still very much alive. This war of complete near total destruction of this invading army will bring Israel to clamor for the rebuilding of their long awaited Temple and a overwhelming desire to enter into a blood covenant of worshiping the God of Israel, Yahweh, (YHWH) by resuming animal sacrifices. It will bring to fruition a treaty between the nations of the world who have envisioned a two state solution upon Israel, dividing the land between Israel and the Palestinians as Israel will be allowed to rebuild the 3rd Temple, even on the Temple Mount, or possibly in the archaeological known site in the City of David to it’s immediate south. But a Temple will be rebuilt and this treaty will usher in the Tribulation of 7 years and the Anti-Christ revealed.

GOG-MAGOG (RUSSIA) MOVES INTO SYRIA!!

If you’ve been following the news reports, you know that the Russian bear has moved its military muscle into Syria. Many reports show that Russia has established a “beach head” in the government stronghold of Latakia with T-90 tanks, Russian warplanes, and strategic missiles of air to surface and anti-aircraft with boots on the ground. They claim to be supporting the government of the Assad regime by fighting the rebels and ISIS in the region. Is this not an overkill, when ISIS or the rebels do not have an air force needing surface to air missiles, and why the anti-aircraft armaments? I believe what we are seeing is an excuse to inject the Russian military into the affairs of the Middle East and taking residence just to the north of Israel, as a clue of something bigger they have in mind. What could that be?

It was reported that old man Vladdy Putin, made an offer to Israel to enter into an alliance with Israel to protect their up and coming gas and oil fields called Leviathan off the Mediterranean coast in Israeli waters. Of course, being a “so called ally” of the United States, Israel respectfully declined. I use that quote as tongue in cheek, as the friendship and being an ally of the USA is in dire peril from the “idiot in chief” in the White House and his Democratic party. Israel is all but been abandoned by their once trusted friend with the new Iran deal that the POTUS cooked up to sell out Israel with a nuclear equipped Iran. Israel is all but surrounded by hostile enemies. She is surrounded to her north by Syria aided by the former Soviet Union, Russia the wounded bear who needs the cash inflow that a large oil and gas deposit could provide them, as was the reason that Russia made the offer for a partnership in developing this energy sector of Israel. Then to the north-east by Iran who has vowed the annihilation and a well placed atomic bomb would fit the bill nicely. To the immediate east, by Jordan who is becoming more hostile over the Temple Mount and the Palestinian riots and alleged Israeli aggression to stop these riots. To the south, Saudi Arabia who being the center of Islam, hates Israel and would join any military power that promises the destruction of Israel. To it’s west, Hamas in Gaza and Egypt with it’s Muslim Brotherhood, would be quick to form an alliance with an attack spearheaded by Russian guarantees of victory.

EZEKIEL’S PROPHESIED WAR ON THE HORIZON

As you should be able to plainly see, the coalition prophesied by the prophet Ezekiel is right in front of the headlines of our newspapers and on our TV sets solidifying every day. But what does that mean for the person who is watching this drama play out in our modern times? It has always been my belief that Ezekiel’s prophesy concerning the Gog-Magog invasion of Israel bumps up to the removal of the church from this planet. Why do I say that? Because the event will be so destructive and no one dares come against Israel, as her “Secret Weapon” has displayed His power for the whole world to witness and there can be no doubt that the world must regroup if it plans on fighting another day. That’s a another reason why I think this coalition that was Muslim in it’s ethnicity, even to it’s leader, Russia the Bear, will do as Muslims always have done, feign submission to the adversary, until you become stronger than them and then attack later. Hence a treaty will be brought to make a “false peace” with Israel by a newly elected leader from the remnant of the Roman Empire, the Anti-Christ. And if the Anti-Christ is revealed at this time, the church is not on this earth. The Bible plainly states that in 2nd Thessalonians chapter 2:

2 “Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only HE WHO NOW LETTETH WILL LET, UNTIL HE BE TAKEN OUT OF THE WAY. (my emphasis)

8 And THEN shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.”

Verse 7 identifies that the Holy Spirit, which I believe Paul speaks of will be removed out of the way, so that lawlessness, and the rule of Satan on this earth will be allowed with nothing holding him back. Oh, the Holy Spirit will still be here on earth, but back to Pre-Pentecostal involvement with mankind, and not in the fullness that was given to those who are saved by grace, the Church of Jesus Christ. Jesus said that He would send a Comforter to us, and He would never leave us alone. John chapter 14:

16 “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”

Paul referred back to this, when he wrote to the Hebrews in chapter 13:

5 “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.

So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”

Point of these quoted verses, that if Jesus said He would never leave us comfortless, and He would never leave us alone, then if the Holy Spirit is being removed from this earth and being “drawn back’ to pre-Pentecostal levels, then to leave His Church on this earth to endure the Tribulation and subject to Satan’s all out wrath, would make Jesus a liar, and we know He cannot lie.

CONCLUSION

Do you not see the connection between what is a happening in Syria with the Russian presence to the north of Israel’s border, is bumping up to the coming war prophesied by Ezekiel? Do you not see that this is the precursor to the revealing of the Anti-Christ by a treaty made with Israel? Beforehand, we will hear our call by the trump of God and the voice of an arch-angel to our Heavenly Home to be with Jesus forever and ever!!

How long will the interval be between this devastating war fought on the mountains of Israel and this treaty? (I use the word “fought”, as this is not a fight, as God will decimate this force, and there will be no fight, except against each other). We don’t know the amount of time, but in my mind, it’s not a long period of time, as Israel moves to rebuild her Temple and nobody is going to stop her, so a 7 year treaty will be enacted and Israel will believe she has been saved by a politician she looks to as her “political messiah” to protect her nation and her sovereignty, provided “safety and security”.

I could point to many other factors, not just this one, that paints the picture that we indeed, in the final days of the Church remaining on this earth. As I have covered many recent messages, this is but one of the ingredients of this end of days evil brew that is being revealed in our time. The news is full of end time details that are forming right now. All it will take is Ezekiel’s prophecy to be fulfilled and then the Anti-Christ will be revealed upon the world scene and Revelation chapter 6 will begin with Jesus opening seal 1-6. This my friends is the beginning of the Tribulation. So let’s recap and put these in order:

  1. Russian and the Islamic coalition is forming right now in the Middle East
  2. Vladmir Putin wants the gas and oil found in the Middle east, and Israel .
  3. Russian has taken it’s military to Syria on a pretense of defending Assad.
  4. Russia has brought more armament than is necessary to defeat ISIS/rebels.
  5. Russia has warplanes, anti-aircraft missiles, and tanks to wage a larger war.
  6. Russia is identified in scripture as the leader of the Gog-Magog invasion.
  7. Gog-Magog will invade Israel with Islamic coalition with superior forces.
  8. God will decimate and near totally destroy this coalition on Israel’s mountains.
  9. Those who survive the war of Ezekiel 38-39 will carry the plague back home.
  10. Israel will insist on rebuilding their 3rd temple and resuming animal sacrifices.
  11. A charismatic leader will step forward to make a treaty with Israel.
  12. The treaty will allow Israel to rebuild her long awaited temple in short order.
  13. Revelation chapter 6 will begin with the Tribulation of the 1st 3.5 years.
  14. Before this treaty is signed, and the AC revealed, the Church will be removed.
  15. How much time from now till all of the above is fulfilled?

If you read and ponder each point, you can envision this time element to move very rapidly from today. All it takes is for Putin to have an evil thought and plan for Israel’s invasion. Ezekiel:

10, “Thus saith the Lord GOD; It shall also come to pass, that at the same time shall things come into thy mind, and thou shalt think an evil thought:

11. And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,

12. To take a spoil, and to take a prey; to turn thine hand upon the desolate places that are now inhabited, and upon the people that are gathered out of the nations, which have gotten cattle and goods, that dwell in the midst of the land”

I believe Putin, which may be Gog in the flesh, has already thought the evil thought and is making plans to implement his plans in the near future. That’s how close I believe we are to seeing this prophecy being fulfilled and seeing Jesus coming with a loud trumpet call, 1st Corinthians:

51 “Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.”

To all who read this, the coming of our Lord Jesus could be in the next breath you take. The signs of His soon return are plain as the nose on your face. We cannot deny that the setting is being set for the end of this age, the Church Age, or the end of the Age of Grace. What is coming is beyond horrific, beyond your imagination, and will be the worst time in all of mankind’s history of rebellion against a Holy God. Jesus said it would be so in Matthew 24:

21 “For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.”

For any sane person who understands what I have just briefly covered, this world you now live in will become literally, hell on earth. Many people will die, probably even you, should you enter into the time known as the Tribulation and the Great Tribulation. Many will be saved through it, but many will depart from God into outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth…but in the end, 80% upwards will die during this 7 short years. Think of it for a moment. There are 7-8 billion people on this earth now, give or take a few million and 80% or roughly 6 billion people will die in 7 short years. Can you imagine it? Would you want to live it? Or die ?

And the simple answer to those questions, is you don’t have to. God made a way for us to get victory over sin, death, hell and the grave. He is called Jesus Christ. Humble yourself and call out to Him in repentance from sinning against a Holy God, for all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God, as Paul wrote in Romans 3:23. Believe on the Lord Jesus and embrace the focus of the entire bible.

John 3:

16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

Those verses are your beginning solid foundation to start becoming conformed to the image of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, the Messiah. From there, get in the book you may have sitting on a dusty shelf and read what God expects of each of us. Live like it’s your last day on earth, for brethren, it just might be….the end of this age is in sight.

The Kurds Are Rising

The Kurds Are Rising – By Daymond Duck –

http://www.raptureready.com/featured/duck/dd184.html

The great seminary professor and Bible prophecy scholar Dr. Charles H. Dyer said, “Most events prophesied in the book of Isaiah came true during the prophet’s lifetime… But the events concerning Babylon described in the thirteenth and fourteenth chapters of Isaiah were not fulfilled in Isaiah’s lifetime. They have never been fulfilled (The Rise of Babylon, p.162).

In chapter 13, Isaiah was prophesying about Babylon (Isa. 13:1) when he said, “the day of the Lord is near” (Isa.13:6), “the day of the Lord cometh,” (Isa. 13:9) and he talked about “the day of his fierce anger” (Isa.13:13). The prophecies in this chapter begin when the Tribulation period is near and they continue on into the seven-year time of trouble.

When these prophecies are fulfilled God said, “I will punish the world for its evil” (Isa. 13:11). He will do that during the Tribulation period (Zeph. 1:14-16; 2:8; Dan. 12:1; Rev.6-19).

Notice that God said He “will stir up the Medes (not the Medes and Persians) against them” (Isa. 13:17). Babylon “will be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah” (Isa. 13:19). Babylon will “never be inhabited” from generation to generation (Isa. 13:20). And satyrs (demons) shall dance there (Isa. 13:21-22).

The Medes and Persians didn’t destroy Babylon by fire and a few people live there today so every jot and tittle of this prophecy hasn’t been fulfilled.

But Babylon will be destroyed by fire, it will become desolate and it will become the home of demons during the Tribulation period. All of that is prophesied in the book of Revelation (Rev.18:2, 8, 10, 19). They are events that will take place just before the Second Coming of Jesus.

There is more evidence of a future fulfillment. Gentiles will help the Jews return to the Promised Land. Gentiles will serve the Jews. Gentiles will be ruled by the Jews. Israel will have peace (Isa.14:1-3).

The world hates Israel today and Israel doesn’t have peace. But Israel will have peace after the Jews accept Jesus.

Isaiah reveals more coming events, but it is important to note that this future destruction of Babylon will be brought about by the Medes (not the Medes and Persians). Who are the Medes? Dr. Dyer said, “They have been fighting the countries of Turkey, Iran and Iraq in an attempt to establish their own independent country of Kurdistan” (p.173). The Medes are the Kurds.

About one hundred years later, Jeremiah prophesied against Babylon (Jer. 50-51). Many commentators apply his message to the Old Testament attack on Babylon by the Medes and Persians. There are similarities, but there are also differences. There is even reason to believe that Isaiah 13-14, Jeremiah chapters 50-51 and Revelation chapters 17-18 are all about the same thing. And few people doubt that Revelation chapters 17-18 are about the future.

Here is a partial list of similarities:

1) Isaiah chapters 13-14 will be fulfilled close to and during the Tribulation period and Jeremiah chapters 50-51 will be fulfilled about the time that Israel gets saved (Isa. 6:6, 9, 11, 13; Jer. 50:4, 20).

2) A multi-nation attack on Babylon is mentioned in Isaiah chapter 13 and also in Jeremiah chapter 50 (Isa. 13:1-6; Jer. 50:9, 41-42).

3) A later attack by the Medes (Kurds) in mentioned in Isaiah chapter 13 and also in Jeremiah chapter 51 (Isa. 13:17; Jer. 51:11-12, 28).

4) People are told to flee out of Babylon in Jeremiah chapter 51 and in Revelation chapter 18 (Jer. 51:6; Rev. 18:4).

5) Messengers announce the fall of Babylon in Jeremiah chapter 51 and also in Revelation chapter 18 (Jer. 51:31; Rev. 18:2).

6) Jeremiah chapter 51 says Babylon dwells upon many waters and is abundant in treasures and Revelation chapter 17 says the Harlot sits upon many waters and is very rich (Jer. 51:13; Rev. 17:1-4).

7) Jeremiah chapter 51 and Revelation chapter 18 both say Babylon has made the nations drunk on wine (Jer. 51:7; Rev. 18:3).

There is more, but here is a big difference: When Babylon is finally destroyed the walls will be torn down (Jer. 50:15; 51:58). The Medes and Persians diverted the Euphrates River and went under the walls. They didn’t tear them down.

This is the point: The fall of Babylon to the Medes and Persians may have fulfilled part of Isaiah 13-14 and Jeremiah 50-51, but it didn’t fulfill all of it. There is more to come and the Kurds (Medes) will play a major role.

In fact, it has already started. The failure of Iraq and Syria has increased the hopes of the Kurds for their own nation. They are the only group that has fought the Islamic State to a standstill. The U.S. has not given them the weapons they want, but they will get more weapons and the U.S. is giving them air cover.

In Jan. 2015, the Kurds defeated the Islamic State forces in a four-month battle for Kobani. In May 2015, the Kurds captured about 220 towns and villages that the Islamic State had taken in Syria. In early June 2015, a Kurdish supported party won several seats in the elections in Turkey. In mid-June 2015, the Kurds seized an extremely important Islamic State border crossing and supply route from Turkey.

In late June 2015, the Kurds captured an important military base that the Islamic State has held since 2014 and they were only about 35 miles from the Islamic State’s headquarters in Syria. In early July, they took more than 10 more villages from the Islamic State in Syria.

Some say there is not enough time for Babylon to be rebuilt, but the God who spoke the world into existence in six days doesn’t need decades to rebuild Babylon. When He says something will happen it will happen.

It looks like the Rapture can happen any day, but we don’t know when. There appears to be a gap between the Rapture and the Tribulation period, but we don’t know how long that gap is. Much work can be done in a short period of time.

Rebuilt Babylon doesn’t have to be a big city like New York (and the Bible calls it a city not a nation). Ancient Babylon was just 14 miles on each side and much of that was farm land. Some think global trade can be controlled from just a few buildings with super-computers. Also, the False Prophet won’t need a lot of buildings. Whatever is there will burn in one hour.

Just know that the Kurds (Medes) will destroy the city of Babylon at the end of the Tribulation period and they are rising now. Pres. Obama says it will take ten years to defeat the Islamic State, but God can bring them down in one night (especially if they don’t leave Israel alone). Their defeat and the rise of Babylon could be sooner than many think.

A prophetic point about Syria

A prophetic point about Syria

The United States still has not taken the military card off the table with regard to Syria, although it appears that military action at least has been delayed by a high stakes international foreign policy maneuver. Secretary of State John Kerry and his Russian counterpart have worked out a deal to dispose of Syria’s chemical weapons. The Syrian dictator Assad is claiming victory for Syria because of his Russian friends. War Hawk Republican Senators John McCain (R-Az) and Lindsey Graham (R-Sc) say it is the “start of a diplomatic blind alley.” So nobody is happy, except for the occupant of the Oval Office, who still can play out his military support for the Muslim Brotherhood and al Qaeda.

Kerry’s lack of foreign policy aptitude and negotiating acumen likely means that Russia walked all over the US in these negotiations. Details of the agreement are publicly scarce, except that Syria’s chemical weapons will be destroyed within the first half of next year. Of course, this is all dependent on Syrian cooperation in allowing UN inspectors access to the chemical weapons facilities. This is a similar type of agreement that has been in place regarding Iran’s nuclear weapons. Iran, Syria’s staunchest ally, has been playing cat and mouse with the UN, aided by Russia and China, since 2003 when it first agreed to allow UN inspections of its nuclear program. Prediction: don’t look for anything to change.

It would appear that Kerry agreed to not strike Syria militarily so long as Syria is complying with the agreement. But that does not take military aid to the Muslim Brotherhood and al Qaeda factions off the table. It just means that, at least for the time being, the president will not allow the US to become the Muslim Brotherhood’s air force in Syria. Notwithstanding, this president of the United States is deeply entrenched in providing tax-funded aid to sworn enemies of America. One analysis of this agreement would be that with the threat of chemical weapons use by Assad off the table, the Muslim Brotherhood forces can advance without fear. Although, we must remember that it was the Muslim Brotherhood forces that admittedly used chemical weapons.

No doubt, the turmoil in Syria has prophetic implications. Isaiah 17:1 says that “Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.” Zechariah 9:1 says, “Damascus shall be the rest thereof: when the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Israel, shall be toward the Lord.” Islam believes that the Mahdi will battle the antichrist in the general region stretching from Damascus. In Christian eschatology, the Lord returns and does battle with the antichrist coming from the North and meeting in the Valley of Megiddo. The antichrist in Christian eschatology resembles the Mahdi; whereas Islam believes the antichrist resembles Jesus Christ. These are days where the birth pangs of prophecy are becoming stronger.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

The Return Of The Kings Of The North And South

The Return Of The Kings Of The North And South
by Jack Kelley

“At the time of the end the king of the South will engage him in battle, and the king of the North will storm out against him with chariots and cavalry and a great fleet of ships” (Daniel 11:40)

Several times over the last few years I’ve made mention of my belief that two powerful and opposing forces of Biblical times were in the process of re-emerging to become part of the increasingly complex situation in the Middle East. These two adversaries are called the King of the North and the King of the South in Daniel 11 and recent events show they’ve both taken a giant step toward fulfilling their prophetic destiny.

My most recent study on this subject is not quite two years old and appears under the title “The Three Kings Of Daniel 11”. It’s named that way because in their end times appearance, the Kings of the North and South will not only oppose each other, they will both oppose the anti-Christ, who is called “the King who exalts himself” in Daniel 11:36.

Daniel 11:5-35 is a summary of the historical times of these two kings as they battled each other for control of what we now call the Middle East through several generations. They finally disappeared as the Romans were coming into prominence. It’s amazing to consider that Daniel wrote about all of them before any of them were born, squeezing over 100 historically documented prophecies into the first 35 verses of Daniel 11.

Daniel 11:36-45 are still future to us and require the re-emergence of these kings to be fulfilled. I believe in our current headlines we’re seeing signs that they’re preparing to rise and take their positions on the end times stage.

What Makes You Say That?

In my Mid East Update I reported that Saudi Arabia gave the Egyptian Army substantial assistance in its successful overthrow of the government. We now know that the United Arab Emirates and Kuwaitt were also involved. I mentioned that this concerns the US because of the possibility that these countries are banding together into a Sunni Muslim confederacy to oppose Iran. There’s a likelihood that they will support and even assist Israel in destroying Iran’s nuclear program. (The US is not opposed to a Sunni confederacy, but has been trying to build one around Turkey and the Muslim Brotherhood in a revival of The Ottoman Empire. Saudi Arabia and Egypt have become too independent for American tastes.)

Now, several Middle Eastern news services are reporting that Iran is working to build a Shiite Muslim block to counter this move by the Sunnis. It appears that this block will consist of Iran, Syria, Iraq, and Lebanon. This helps to explain why Iran is so heavily invested in Syria and Hizballah. Iran has sent billions of dollars in advanced weaponry to both and has thousands of soldiers stationed in Syria as well.

And just this week the Syrian state news agency SANA reported that an agreement was signed in Tehran by the Iranian and Syrian central banks, granting Syria a credit line worth $3.6 billion for oil. Damascus will repay Tehran by providing the Iranians “investment opportunities of various kinds” in Syria. According to the mideast intelligence service DEBKAfile, Iran is moving step by step to control the Syrian economy and advance its scheme for drawing Syria, Iraq and eventually Hizballah-dominated Lebanon into a Shiite economic bloc.

Some sources go even farther, claiming that Iran already controls Lebanon through its “wholly owned subsidiary” Hizballah. And recently a senior Iranian cleric boldly stated, “Syria is the 35th province [of Iran] and a strategic province for us.”

A recent article in Commentary magazine confirmed that “Iran is not only arming and training President Bashar Assad’s forces, both regular and irregular, but it has also sent Hizballah, Iranian-backed Iraqi militias, and units of its own Revolutionary Guards Corps to join his fight against the Sunni rebels. Add in the billions of dollars it has given Assad to prop up his regime, and it’s clear that if he survives, Syria will be another wholly-owned Iranian subsidiary.

“Whether Assad stays or goes is becoming irrelevant,” a diplomat in the region told Khaled Yacoub Oweis of Reuters. “The conflict is now bigger than him, and it will continue without him. Iran is calling the shots.”

And finally, the on-line magazine “Iran Focus” confirmed that Assad is not the issue. “Iran is primarily concerned with maintaining the Shiite crescent — which includes Shiites from Iran, Iraq, Lebanon and Syria.”

History Repeating Itself

It can’t be a coincidence that these Shiite nations occupy the same territory formerly controlled by the King of the North, just as the Sunni Muslim block occupies territory formerly held by the King of the South.

While there are sub-groups on both sides, Sunnis make up about 80% of the world’s Muslim population with Shiites comprising the remaining 20%. Many people who aren’t familiar with Islam don’t realize that the relationship between the two groups has not always been friendly, even when they would appear to have common goals. For example, after the 2006 Lebanon war, when much of the Arab world was claiming victory, Osama bin Laden (Sunni) publically criticized Hizballah (Shiite) for “jumping the gun” and attacking Israel before the time was right.

Current examples of sectarian strife can be seen in the fact that according to Gulf News, Hamas (Sunni) has lost the financial support of Iran (Shiite) for backing the rebels in Syria against the Assad government and has been told to switch sides if they want their aid restored.

Also, in the US there’s a fear that 10 years of “progress” in Iraq is being undone by Sunni/Shiite violence. Iraq has a Shiite majority being governed by a Sunni minority. The American advisors have never successfully addressed that issue and are now concerned that Iraq may soon erupt in civil war. Most observers see a not so subtle Iranian influence at work behind this.

The rivalry between these two sects of Islam goes back to the death of Mohammed when there was a battle over the right to succeed him and continues to this day. Most of their beliefs are identical but there are some differences. For example, they both believe in al Mahdi, but they don’t agree on who he will be or what he will do. Shiites believe he’s the 12th Imam, who will appear at a time of great crisis in the world to establish the Islamic Caliphate, or Kingdom, and enforce world wide conversion to Islam. Sunnis believe he will revive the faith, but will not necessarily be connected with the end of the world.

What Does That Mean?

A growing number of observers believe this rivalry could easily escalate into an all out Islamic war for control of the Middle East in a repeat of ancient history. Even though both sects have the capture of Jerusalem as their ultimate goal, each one wants to be the group that does it, and they’re apparently willing to fight each other for the privilege. The Bedouin saying, “I against my brother, my brothers and I against my cousins, then my cousins and I against strangers” comes to mind.

Of course, anyone familiar with the years of Catholic vs. Protestant strife in Northern Ireland knows that sectarian violence is not unique to Islam. But what would cause both Sunnis and Shiites to attack the anti-Christ as Daniel clearly prophesied (Daniel 11:40)? Especially if, as I believe, Islam will be the end times religion and alMahdi will likely turn out to be the anti-Christ?

We could understand their difference of opinion over who alMahdi will be to cause one or the other to oppose him, but what could cause both to do so?

I think the Bible gives us the answer.

“He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God” (2 Thes. 2:4)

“The beast and the ten horns you saw will hate the prostitute. They will bring her to ruin and leave her naked; they will eat her flesh and burn her with fire” (Rev. 17:16)

Satan has always used used man’s need for a religion to help him achieve his goal of world dominance, but eventually he will have to make himself the only object of worship, unencumbered by any religious system. And just like the Jews were incited to murder when Jesus claimed to be God, so these Islamic kings will be outraged when the one they thought was the promised servant of Allah makes the claim that he actually is Allah.

In Islam there’s a saying, “Allah was not begotten nor does he beget.” When the anti-Christ proclaims himself to be God he will be committing blasphemy against both Allah and God. And when he and his 10 kings move to destroy Islam (Rev. 17:16), it’s easy to see how the kings of the North and South, with massive armies under their command, could forget their differences and unite against him.

Students of Biblical history will recognize in this a strategy frequently employed by God, that of turning his enemies against each other. You can find examples in Judges 7:22, 1 Sam 14:20, 2 Chron. 20:23, Ezek. 38:21, and Zech. 14:13.

Of course there’s a lot of ground to cover between where we are now and the fulfillment of Daniel 11:40. Thankfully, the Church won’t be here for most of the journey. My purpose is to alert us to the possibility that one more sign of the times could be in the early stages of fulfillment. Because every sign of the times we see strengthens our conviction that we’re living in the times of the signs. You can almost hear the footsteps of the Messiah. 08-03-13

Mid-East Update

Mid-East Update – by Jack Kelley – http://gracethrufaith.com/ikvot-hamashiach/mid-east-update/

Recently several events in the Middle East have taken place that should be putting students of prophecy on high alert.

In Syria, the opposition is fragmenting as newly arrived Taliban fighters from Afghanistan have joined with alQaeda in what looks like an attempt to hijack the Free Syrian Army’s rebellion against the Assad government. In the short term this means the Syrian opposition is focused more on the infighting among its own factions than on defeating the government forces. The Taliban and alQaeda alliance seems to be gaining the upper hand, which means any hope for a “moderate Muslim” government to replace Assad is quickly evaporating.

A report that Israel is considering going it alone in an effort to put a halt to Iran’s nuclear arms development is also in the news. According to high ranking officials, Israel is concerned that because of North Korean help Iran is about to cross Prime Minister Natanyahu’s famous red line, and could be only months away from having a “nuclear device”. According to them that means a warhead or bomb is less than a year away. These officials are saying that something must be done before the end of 2013 to stop Iran. It has been reported that a majority of Israel’s security cabinet is now prepared to vote for war with or without help from others.

Accordingly, Israeli officials have begun preparing the world to expect some kind of action against Iran later this year. PM Netanyahu pledged on national television that he will not wait until it’s too late to act.

Also, upon learning that Russia had agreed to supply Syria with advanced anti-ship and anti-air missile systems, PM Netanyahu met with Russian Pres. Putin on May 14 in an unsuccessful attempt to stop the transaction. Netanyahu reportedly told Putin that Israel would destroy these systems if they arrived in Syria. Putin responded that if they did Russia would retaliate.

A few days earlier, Israel had secretly destroyed a shipment of Iranian arms meant for Hezbollah in an air strike near Damascus. Upon learning from Washington that Israel was responsible, Syrian, Iranian, and Hezbollah officials said another such attack would bring an immediate reprisal.

Then on July 5 air strikes against an arms depot in Latakia, a port city in Syria, destroyed another big cache of arms, supplied mostly by Russia. Of the three arsenals destroyed, one contained components of the very weapons systems Netanyahu and Putin had discussed in May. Another held advanced weapons the Russians knew were intended for use by Hezbollah.

As with the previous raid, neither Syrian nor Russian radar detected the attacking aircraft so it was not known from whence they came. But once again, the US disclosed to the media that the attack had been carried out by Israel.

The question now is how and when Russia, Iran, Syria, and Hezbollah will make good on their threats to immediately respond to these Israeli attacks.

Why Did You Do That?

You might ask why the US would let the world know it was the Israelis who pulled off these two daring strikes. Well, it looks like this was Pres. Obama’s way of telling Israel not to try going it alone against Iran, and especially not to “cozy up” to any other Middle Eastern countries in the process.

This was a reference to Saudi Arabia. It turns out that the King of Saudi Arabia and former Egyptian Pres. Mubarak are close friends. When the Obama administration was instrumental in Mubarak’s ouster in favor of the Muslim Brotherhood a year ago, it upset the Saudi King and he determined to get even for the shabby way in which his friend was being treated. His chance came when the Egyptian Army decided to throw the Brotherhood out of office last month. He sent a high ranking subordinate to help the Egyptian Army plan and execute the overthrow.

When Obama officials saw they couldn’t dissuade the Egyptian Army from acting, they threatened to “review” the $1.2 billion in annual aid that was the army’s primary source of income. The Saudi King immediately offered to cover any shortfall, and in a single day transferred $8 billion in cash into the army’s account. When you add gasoline credits and cash contributions from other Arab countries the total assistance came to $12 billion. The Egyptians were thus emboldened to ask the US whether they really wanted to jeopardize losing Egypt as an ally by making such a threat. So much for Obama’s power play.

The Brotherhood, of which Hamas is part, has begun to retaliate against the Egyptian army, using the Sinai desert as its battleground. This presents a threat to Israel because whenever Muslim forces are at odds, one side or the other will usually attack Israel. So in a move that’s surprising to say the least, Israel has been helping the Egyptian army with intelligence and drone support and has given permission for the Egyptians to move tanks and soldiers into the Sinai. In return the Egyptian army has cut off the Sinai supply routes and for the first time in recent memory most of the hundreds of smuggling tunnels that connect the Sinai with Gaza have been blocked.

The Obama administration is afraid that Saudi Arabia, Egypt and some other Arab states are setting up an independent block of Sunni Muslims to oppose the Shiites. They are concerned that Israel will turn to this block for help in taking out their common enemy, Shiite Iran. Tipping off the Russians is Obama’s way of telling Israel, “If you want to go your own way, we can go our own way too, and you won’t like outcome.”

War In The Sinai

As you read this, the Egyptian Army has begun a campaign to clear the Sinai of Bedouin and Palestinian fighters who have joined with the Brotherhood in their attempt to regain control of Egypt. Israeli forces along the Egyptian and Gaza borders are on high alert and their drones and satellites are scouring the area from above to provide Egypt with real time battlefield intelligence.

Having had its bluff on the aid issue successfully called, the US has stationed two amphibious helicopter carriers nearby with 2,600 US Marines aboard to make sure Suez Canal traffic isn’t disrupted, and is also supplying the Egyptian Army with satellite intelligence on troop movements in the Sinai. Egypt has vowed not to end this campaign until the Sinai has been cleared of the Brotherhood and its allies.

Looking Ahead

Let’s summarize what we could be looking at in the second half of 2013. Israeli leaders are concerned that there are few if any real alternatives to attacking Iran, who with North Korea’s assistance, is about to cross the red line. They’re are running out of hope that war with Iran later this year can be avoided.

Iran and Syria have made no secret of their willingness to arm Hezbollah with the latest weaponry. Now Russia has been discovered doing the same thing. Israel’s preventive attacks against these efforts has brought promises of swift retaliation from everyone involved. This would most likely be done through Hezbollah with Russia, Iran and Syria coordinating an attack on Israel’s northern border by Hezbollah forces.

It’s hard to believe that Russia will let Israel’s destruction of its weaponry go unanswered, especially after Putin promised to retaliate. Iran could see this as a chance to pre-empt Israel’s clear intention to destroy their nuclear program by attacking first. And it’s obvious that Hezbollah has been looking for the go ahead to open a northern front against Israel. Syria will also benefit from this, because it will distract the rebel forces from their goal of bringing down the government. Islamic “freedom fighters” in Syria will not miss the chance to strike a blow against Israel.

In the south, Israel’s cooperation with the Egyptian Army against the Brotherhood and its allies could easily provide the rationale for an attack on Israel’s southern border by the several Islamist groups in Gaza. Having the Israelis working with the Egyptian Army against the Brotherhood and its allies presents an intolerable situation that will have to be addressed

The bottom line is this may just be too good an opportunity for Israel’s enemies to pass up. If there’s any such thing as a perfect storm in Middle East warfare, The one that’s brewing now could be it. You can almost hear the footsteps of the Messiah.
