Free Glucose Meters And Diabetes

Since I used to be a kid, I always remember uncle Tom as one who loved to consume food. Ever since I had been a kid I always remember him to be fat.

Matilda, my auntie and his wife, continuously did her best in making him stop his bad diet regime, but I must say, she wasn't very successful. In fact, Matilda always used to cook well balanced meals for him, like soups and meals that are based on vegetables, while trying to eliminate any foods which are high in fats. Matilda always refrained from cooking desserts, unless they'd visitors for dinner.

Sadly, my uncle always craved sweets, cakes, doughnuts, chocolates, or be it different types of food that has lots of sugar content. Therefore it comes to no real surprise that Tom goes regularly to the supermarket to acquire biscuits, cakes, chocolates or any food product which he crazes for. Consuming a whole packet of biscuits at tea time is normal for uncle Tom. Who knows what Tom eats at the workplace, surely he just isn't going to eat a salad meal while in the office and who knows what number of sodas and sweets does he buy during office hours.

The doctor has advised him more than once to watch his weight, to consume smaller portions, to consume healthier foods and to avoid sweets, but all of the advice always fell on deaf ears. My uncle is really a Stubborn man and when people simply tell him to limit his food intake he usually does the alternative thing.

My cousins, uncle Tom's daughter and son, also love sweets. This comes to no real surprise.

Alas 2 to 3 weeks ago, my uncle had a blood test and it turned out he was suffering from type 2 diabetes. My uncle got a shock when he got to know from the doctor what can be the implications of type 2 diabetes.

His doctor was of the opinion that it was important to obtain a glucose meter. He told my uncle that it was even possible to to obtain a free glucose meter just by registering at certain internet sites. How can uncle Tom live without his beloved biscuits, cakes and desserts I have no idea!

Tom remains to be bewildered based on the words of his doctor. While he has started to regulation his consumption of sweets and sugared foods, Tom got depressed and is not the cheerful person as I always remembered him.

As Tom still has to get a glucose testing kit I though that I could help. I did a Google search for "glucose meters" and I discovered a web site that permits you to register to get a free glucose meter. As per what I've read, one additional word for glucose meter is glucometer. I filled all the details of uncle Tom in the form provided and registered for the free glucometer.

This may not make my uncle happier but there is not a lot more that I can do for him. Hope that my uncle will soon receive the free glucose meter.
